Meet Sarah

The Path That Led Me Here

I’m a shamanic healing practitioner, Holy Fire® and Usui Reiki Master and Teacher, and tarot reader living in Vermont in a weird house with a wonderful man.

The teacher who became the student

Before this chapter of my life, I spent 30 years teaching English.  I loved helping students discover their voices through literature, writing, and the stories that help us make sense of ourselves and the world around us. During that time, I created a class focused on Irish history and culture, and I traveled with that class to Ireland at the end of each school year. I was astounded by the impact of the prehistoric sites on my students.  It was one of my first clues that there are answers deep inside us that the modern world wasn’t accessing, but that resonate when we activate them.  The energy and power of those places is undeniable.

A few years before I retired from teaching, I picked up several books on shamanic healing by Sandra Ingerman and immediately knew I'd found something important. That curiosity led to classes, teachers, and years of study, including work with Dr. Mary Newstrom's Spirit Flow program. Once I stepped onto this path, I never looked back.

Why I Do This Work

I pursued this work because it changed my life.

The practices I share today help me feel connected, energized, and alive. At 61, I feel more excited about life than I did decades ago. That's not what we're told aging is supposed to feel like—but I think it should be.

In many ways, this work feels like a continuation of teaching. Stories, symbols, dreams, intuition, and energy all help us understand ourselves more deeply. They offer doorways into healing, insight, and change.

Outside the Healing Room

I'm a lifelong learner and will probably never stop taking classes.

When I'm not joyfully cavorting in other dimensions, I'm also a Gramma, friend, partner, cook, adventurer, and enthusiastic gym-goer who enjoys lifting heavy things. I love gathering around good food with people I care about, and I talk to my favorite oak tree as often as I can.

Lineage and Resources — I am a student of many teachers, but these three have been especially powerful. Dr Newstrom runs the Spirit Flow program for shamanic studies I am part of, and she is my Reiki instructor.

“Thank you Sarah! I loved it!  Definitely coming back.
The drumming was great. I really relaxed. I needed it.”
